Podcast

There are a variety of different standards you could address with the podcasts but I chose:
Language Arts

Standard 1 (Oral Language) Students develop language for the purpose of effectively

communicating through listening, speaking, viewing, and presenting.

Objective: 1 Listening

I think that this would be the best standard because children can listen to what is going on and then respond i appropriate ways.  This is way cool by the way!!!!

MapQuest agian.

I still have the same standard I've been using for the last two posts but I've decided that students can research whatever animal they want instead of just farm animals.
Standard(S):
Kindergarten Content Standard 3: Students will develop an understanding of their environment.
Objective 2:
Observe and describe animals in the local environment.

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/animals/Animalbabies.shtml

This is a great website because it teaches the children the different names of the animals from a male, female and baby animal. This is also a good website because then they can print out the picture of the animal of their choice and color it. This could be a great integrated lesson. There are a variety of animals that can be found in this environment like a deer, doe, and a fawn. I think that the children would have fun with this website.``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

2. After learning about different farm animals living area students will make a home for an animal of their choice.
*I'm not sure if this all I needed I accidentally deleted your e-mail sorry!!!!

WebQuest

I really enjoyed WebQuest and I think that students would love to do this as a class. It's a great way to bring technology into the classroom and it could help children learn about some things that they are interested in. It makes students learning their own responsibility and gives them an opportunity to get involved with the other students. If I were to make a MapQuest I would want it to be about the animals and the changes that happen to them over time.
Kindergarten Content
Standard 3: Students will develop an understanding of their environment.
Objective 2: Observe and describe animals in the local environment.

I would want them to get an understanding of some of the animals that are around, how they care for their young, describe and compare amiliar animals, describe how young animals differ from adult animals, observe and imitate the sounds and movements of animals, and distinguish between real and make-believe animal behaviors. I would want to make sure that they could get some hands on expereinces with all of these things.

Website evaluation

http://www.first-school.ws/themes.html
I used the Kathy Shrocks Guide for educators evaluation sheet and I really liked this sheet I think that it helped me determine this website.  This website was for preschool lesson plans and for the most part it had everything on the worksheet.  I couldn't see the authors names but I think it's because there are many authors to it because teachers have just posted lesson plans.  I couldn't find the date it was posted but it was easy to find things and gave me good ideas.

The third evaluation form helped me out pretty good.  This website was pretty good but it can improve.  It was really easy to access what I needed the only thing I didn't like is that you couldn't learn too much about the teachers.  All you  could get were their names and what grade they taught.  It depended on the teacher how well their part of the page was but for the most part it was pretty good.

This one was really good and easy to access.  The authors name and date it was posted was really easy to find along with the title.  You could easily get back to the homepage and it was all around a good website.

The sheet that I liked best was the third sheet I think that those questions were the most helpful in distinguishing whether a website was well written or not.  This last one was kind of cool it had a lot of problems that the children could try and figure out and work with.  It was very interactive for the children and it was easy to access.

spreadsheets, surveys, and graphs.

I loved the survey part of this lesson I think there are so many things that you could do as a class with this. Any subject that you learn you could have children think of questions that they might have about a subject and put a survey together and send it either to their parents or other teachers and see what the responses might be. I think that this would be such a fun project to do as a class and children can learn so much from it like collecting data for a subject they're tyring to figure out. I'm not a real big fan of the spreadsheets yet because I haven't really thought of any fun things to do with it yet. I think that it could be a good tool for collecting data and other things. I'll have to think of something to do with it though. Love, Love, Love the survey I thought it was awesome.

Word Processing

I wasn't here on the day that we learned about word processing but I think it can be a great tool in the classroom. Children love getting on the computer and I think anything that we do on there they will love. Some of the things that they could do in a class using word is something we did in class. Start a collabrative stroy during a reading center. Another thing is they can type up a play or a skit on word and then perform it in front of the class or even write a story and read it front of the class. Word is very useful and there are a lot of fun things you can do it if you know how. They can make posters for their teams that they will have in the classroom and many other things. It would be great to be able to teach the students all the great things that it can do.

Technology in the Class

I loved going to the lab I learned so much. I realized how much technology you can use in your class. There are so many neat programs that I want to download and use in my class. I realize now how much I need to get caught up with technology world. Using it in the classroom can make learning much more fun for students. The astronomy program that was shown is amazing. I think that students would love this. I will for sure use technology in my class because class can be much more interesting that way.

UEN

I've used UEN before and I love the lesson plans that they have on there.  I know something about teaching that really scares me is coming up with all of those lesson plans for the first year.  The lesson plans are great to use.  It's also a great tool to keep track of all the lesson plans that you write.  It is really easy to create a lesson plan and that is great and it can save time.  The wimba program would be great to have in the classroom.

Blogging Again!!!

Having a blog for the class is an awesome idea.  I would love to have a blog for my class so that parents can look and see what is going on for the week.  I don't know about everyone else but I think that a weekly letter sounds extremely boring and I think that it would get really boring every week.  A blog would be so much more fun because there could be fun pictures and I could have the children add to the blog.  It would be easy access for parents and they can check it out any time of the day and they wouldn't have to worry about loosing the weekly news letter and being lost for the week.

Blogging

Well, I have never had a blog before so I'm not really sure how I am going to use it in the classroom.  Some ideas that I have on the top of my head are to have children have their own blogs.  I know that when I was in elementary I had to keep a journal about thoughts I had about the readings we did.  I think that it would be good to have children keep a journal about the thoughts that they have about the readings we do each day.  This can be a fun way for them to express themselves because they could find pictures, quotes, and other thoughts on the readings.  I think it would be interesting to have them comment on other peoples thoughts because sometime children share a lot more when they just have to write it instead of saying it in front of the class.  It could make children more open to express their opinions and thoughts about other student's work.
